Installation view “Stories of the Real and Unreal World”

Inspired by an interest in language, literature, psychology, and history, Jeanne Jaffe’s work explores how identity and world view are forged from early, pre-verbal, experience through the later influences of language, storytelling, and cultural conditioning. Much of her work reinterprets old stories and cultural assumptions to create new possibilities of action, behavior, and agency. “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside awakes.”  Carl Jung

“The unnatural and the strange have a perfume of their own”
― Fernando Pessoa.
